Things Can Get Worse

Well, here we are, heading towards the completion of another year as Covid still rages on. In fact, it seems to me that it is getting worse than better. With the wrath of the delta and the new omicron variant, the number of cases going up, hospitals filling up, postponements or cancellations of sporting events and shows, it is like we are going right back to square one.

With the idea of how we got back to this point although there were no variants present at the time, is that some forgot that there was still a pandemic going on, despite the reopening of places and ease of restrictions or that if some people maybe forgot the basic concepts of wearing masks and distancing. With me being vaccinated and boostered, I do feel more protected, but no matter where I go, I am always putting the precautions into play.

As more positive cases continue to surge, professional sports teams seem to be getting hit pretty hard. This has caused leagues like the NFL, NBA, and NHL to cancel or postpone games for future dates. Even games for men’s and women’s NCAA basketball have been cancelled as well. In countries like Canada, due to the surge, fans are now not allowed to attend games for the time-being. In my opinion, when sports are affected, that is never a good sign.

The only thing we can do is hope for the best and not worry about going back to where we started with all of this. It may seem that way and it is safe to say that it is not going anywhere and will be with us forever like the Flu. I highly recommend to get the shot if you haven’t done so already and stay healthy particularly during this holiday season.

As for holiday travel, it is expected to be crazy with airports, bus and train stations packed. The hope is that with more restrictions coming back into place, that will limit the spread of the variants. For those of you who are going to travel for this holiday season, if it is by air, train, bus, whatever, I highly urge you to be careful and safe travels.
